Mediation
Empowerment and Growth!
A recent study from the Canadian Research Institute for Law and Family concluded that Mediation in Ontario has a success rate of 87% for full or partial agreements. Additionally, research shows that people involved in family disputes are happier with the outcome of Mediation rather than through Court process. Participants are also more likely to follow agreements that they have come to on their own rather than orders that have been imposed on them through the courts. The recent cuts to Legal Aid Ontario have made mediation even more important, it saves money and is usually completed significantly faster. Finally, the changes to the Divorce Act suggests that people need to try Alternative Dispute Resolutions prior to start a court process, given that is appropriate and safe to do so.
